Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop stars. She was an artist who could effortlessly bridge the gap between country and pop, conquering the globe. The popularity of Swift only grew through her subsequent three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017) which saw her move into a pop realm that she had already been a part of. When she reduced her sound to the stripped-down versions of 2020, folklore and Evermore however, she remained in the top spot. The position was defended with the re-recordings she had made from her earlier catalog as along with Midnights which was her chart-topping synth heavy 2022 album.
