Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She has written fifteen books. She is also the co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Born in Greece and relocated to England at the age of 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in economics. As the first non-English speaking student to graduate, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. She became an author for a conservative newspaper after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a couple of years following, she launched an online voice platform with a critique of current the political landscape. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of stars to voice their views regarding current affairs, the political and culture. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 after she decided to stand independently in the California recall election in order to succeed then Governor Davis. The project she headed was an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes placed her at 12 on its top 10 list of Most Influential Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their Top 100 list in the year 2010. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her the president of their media company that also includes additional AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos the management and journalism consultant. While she was very close to her father it was her relationship with her mother which shaped her life. Even in her formative age she showed her leadership skills for which she's still known. When she was 16 she relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She joined Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years, where she was the third female to be elected president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master's in Economics. Following her degree she worked as a journalist-critic and TV host. She also appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his editing assistance.
